Firm History
The Schurmer Firm was founded in 1968 and went by the name Linder, Schurmer, Drane and Bullis. The firm specialized in all types of personal injury and wrongful death cases as it has throughout the history of the firm and up to the present day. Earl D. Reese, the grandfather of Earl Schurmer, joined the firm early in its history and began what became the tradition of a family owned and operated law firm.
The partnership experienced a number of changes and went by Schurmer & Drane for many years. Walter H. Drane, esq., one of the founding partners, passed away in 1984, however, out of recognition for his service and contribution to the firm, his name remained for over three decades after his passing. Scott Schurmer, another founding member, and father to Earl Schurmer, retired from the practice of law in 2011. Since then, the firm has gone by other names including Schurmer and Wood and now, The Schurmer Firm. Although the names have changed, the service, tradition and experience has not.
In the early eighties, the firm relocated to its primary offices to the Oxnard and Ventura areas and rapidly became entrenched in the tri-counties legal community with many successful jury verdicts, settlements and published appellate opinions.
Today, the firm continues the tradition of a family owned and operated law practice with Earl Schurmer and his daughter Samantha Schurmer Davies as the two primary attorneys. The firm continues to specialize in personal injury and wrongful death cases and continues to provide best in class legal services as it has for its entire fifty plus year history.
